A Panama fruit company has finally brought square watermelon to the US.
The Panama Fruit Producer company has sent its first shipment of 120 to New York. Doesn’t sound like much but the company expects to produce about 3000 of these shapely watermelons this year.
No this has nothing to do with bioengineering (frankenfood) so rest easy. Instead they are grown in molds to produce the shape.
The bad news? They’ll cost around $75 each, however the producers hope to get the cost down eventually.
